Well we couldn't have a suffragette quilt without paying homage to the always excellent Disney song Sister Suffragette. Yes it has disney-fied the criminal acts women did in order to get the vote, and it has totally glossed over the forced feedings that women had to endure but, it enables young children a glimpse into the world of the women who won us the vote. Obviously I love the lyrics "We're clearly soldiers in petticoats, and dauntless crusaders for women's votes" because who wouldn't love the image that paints? But the lyrics that gets me most fired up are:
"Our daughters' daughters will adore us, and they'll sing in grateful chorus, well done, Sister Suffragette!". I am probably a daughter's daughter's daughter.... but they are right, I adore them.
Now to the sewing... I know I need to get over it, but I do adore my fussy cutting!
This uses the 5x5 block design, meaning that all of the squares measure 4cm when complete. As with the others, sew the triangle blocks together first before sewing the blocks together in rows.
