Block forty one: Hope

Hope takes courage to sustain. Since starting my quilt and this blog I have struggled with hope. As I said in my first post, I lost my job back in April at the time of starting my quilt. My quilt has helped to keep me focused and in the early days helped me get out of bed. Since this mad time back in April, I have started to work on building a new school with some of my old colleagues. It has been mad and we have had to overcome so many obstacles so it is hard to continue to have hope that I will have a job in September. We have a couple of 'make or break' deadlines coming up with means I have been struggling with hope recently. The anxiety I have had has come back in the face of all the uncertainty and what hasn't helped is that I am stuck with my quilt!

I am currently just about to sew the boarders but have been awaiting a certain fabric to be in stock for over 2 weeks now! And so I am stuck. Unwilling to compromise the fabric so not able to move forward. I may need to start designing a new quilt just to release this anxiety storm!

Anyway, ramblings away, this block is called "hope" and this is something I need to sustain. By the way, we are still about thirteen blocks from being finished (they have all been made) but I am releasing them one per day.

Right, ignore my annotations to this block... it didn't work! Each small square needs to be cut as a 5cm square to allow for seam allowance. Each triangle needs to be cut from a 5.5cm square. Ignore the large triangles as they didn't work and break them down into a square and two triangles. Once you break it down into each component then it is easy to sew like the other blocks.
